Der Teufel steckt im Detail. Während andere Hersteller sich oft nur auf die Optik konzentrieren, schafft es Uwell, ein Kit auf den Markt zu bringen, das wirklich hält, was es verspricht. Da klappert nichts, da wackelt nichts. Der Akkudeckel sitzt durch vier Magnete bombenfest. Die Knöpfe reagieren sofort. Die Box selbst ist aus Aluminium und Zink gefertigt und schmiegt sich förmlich in die Handfläche. Mit einer Größe von 84 mm x 52,5 mm x 25 mm wurde hier sehr darauf geachtet, bei allem Schnickschnack möglichst handlich zu bleiben. An der Unterseite befinden sich neben den Entgasungslöchern noch zwei Gummifüßchen. Dieses schöne Detail sorgt für sicheren Stand auf allen Oberflächen.
Auch technisch hat das Uwell Crown 4 Kit einiges zu bieten. Der Akkuträger kann sowohl im Watt- als auch im Temperaturmodus gedampft werden und bietet eine regelbare Leistung bis 200 Watt. Das brillante LED-Displayzeigt dir alle wichtigen Werte an: Akkustand, eingestellter Modus, Watt- bzw. Temperaturanzeige und den Widerstand des Coils. Der Feuertaster funktioniert klassisch als 5-Klick-Einschalteknopf und mit einem 3-Klick gelangst du ins Menü. Über die Tastenkombination Feuertaste + Plustaste kannst du den Leistungsbereich sperren. Somit kannst du die E-Zigarette nicht mehr unabsichtlich verstellen aber dennoch den Feuertaster ganz normal drücken und dampfen.
Sicherheitstechnisch ist das Uwell Crown 4 Kit auf dem neuesten Stand. Neben den klassischen Schutzmechanismen vor Kurzschluss, Tiefenentladung und Überladung bietet der Akkuträger auch in Sachen Überhitzung und falsch eingelegter Batterien alle Features, die das Dampfen zu einer sicheren Angelegenheit machen. Der Pluspol ist gefedert. Zudem wird hier ein 510er Anschluss verwendet, was den Akkuträger mit vielen anderen Verdampfern kombinierbar macht.
Ich teste den Crown IV Tank mit dem vorinstallierten Verdampferkopf „Crown IV SS904 0,4Ω„. Die anderen Köpfe werde ich noch separat testen. Der Verdampferkopf hat einen realen Widerstand von 0,396Ω, Punktlandung. Kurz mal die absolute Untergrenze testen: Es dampft ab 20 Watt, allerdings nur „ordentlich wenn man mehrere Sekunden vorfeuert. Als totaler Anfänger kann es aber durchaus vorteilhaft sein, wenn die Dampfproduktion so ultralangsam einsetzt, um evtl. die eigenen Grenzen vorsichtig auszuloten.
Noch mal, die Ausgangssituation ist nun also „fabrikneuer, ungereinigter Tank + fabrikneuer Verdampferkopf. Am Anfang habe ich keinen reinen Geschmack, aber auch keinen fiesen Geschmack. Es könnte sein dass das was ich da schmecke vom neuen Verdampferkopf kommt, und vielleicht nicht (oder kaum) vom Tank selbst (das werde ich später noch sehen wenn ich Verdampferköpfe wechsle).
Nachdem ich mich etwas eingedampft habe bin ich zunächst bei 40 Watt. Ich käme mit etwas weniger aus, aber der Kopf ist träge, und der Crown Mod bietet keine Möglichkeit einen Preheat einzustellen. 50 Watt gehen auch supi, dann aber nur mit knackigem kurzen Zugverhalten, a la Schnappatmung, so eine Sekunde dauert der Zug dann. Mein sweetspot findet sich dann kurz mal bei 45 Watt ein, bei einer Zugzeit von 2 Sekunden, wovon ich noch ca. 0,5 Sekunden vorfeuern lasse ohne zu ziehen.
